The U19 National Team started their campaign in the eighth qualifying group on the right foot, as they prevailed 5-2 against Bosnia in Theodoros Vardinogiannis.

The National Youth Team was stormy in the first 15 minutes of their match against Bosnia/Herzegovina at the OFI stadium, which was their premiere in the 8th qualifying group of the EURO U19. It is characteristic that only at 16′ the score had reached 3-0 and the representative group had laid the foundations of the victory, the score of which closed at an impressive 5-2.

It took Greece just 5 minutes from the start of the match to get ahead of the score, with a close-range shot by Panagakos from a corner by Polykratis. Seven minutes later, in the 12th minute, the National Team made it 2-0 with a well-placed penalty by Anestis Mythos and in the 16th minute, they made it 3-0 with a shot by Brego, assisted again by Polykratis. In the 25th minute, the Bosnians reduced the score to 3-1 with a shot by Alaibegovic. From that point until the end of the half, Bosnia pushed for a second goal, but without succeeding and the National team played with counter attacks and could have reached a fourth goal.

The further expansion of the score came for the National Team in the 55th minute, when the creator of two of the first three goals of the National Team, Konstantinos Polykratis, turned into a scorer, taking advantage of the assist of Koupenos and “writing” the 4-1 with a close shot. In the 78th minute Greece scored another goal reaching 5-1 with a shot by Hatsidis from a pass by Kalaitsidis and Bosnia reduced to 5-2 with a shot by Marchetics in the 80th minute.

Overall, the Greek team was impressive, they started the group ideally by showing a very good competitive face for the longest period of the match and “built” psychology for the continuation. Three days later, the national team hosts Montenegro and on the 19th, Italy.

Bosnia/Herzegovina (Dubranko Orlovic): Mejic, Terzic (Rizvic 64′), Muharemovic, Ibrissimovic, Karacic, Lemable (Gojak 31′), Beganovic (Taraba 54′), Garcevic (Marcetic 55′), Sabic (Dajic 46′), Alaibegovic, Markosevic
