The Scuderia travel to Las Vegas in high spirits for another victory despite the Brazilian rain setback – while in free practice on Friday it is said to be planning to test a new floor that will provide data for its ‘project 677’, i.e. the car of 2025.
After victories for Charles Leclerc in Texas and Carlos Sainz in Mexico, Interlagos and the eventful and rainy Brazilian GP, Scuderia Ferrari had a “bumpy landing” that left them off the podium and cost them valuable points in the battle for this year’s constructors’ championship. Formula 1.
But in Las Vegas this three-day (November 22-24) Ferrari appears to believe in recovery, and a return to the pre-Brazil data that wanted it to have the fastest and most efficient F1 car since the Italian GP on 1 September.
The Italian team’s principal, Fred Wasser, argues that the circuit of the gambling city in the Nevada desert is more suited to the Ferrari SF-24 than the circuit of Sao Paulo.
“Last year we were in good shape in Vegas, no doubt. I think that in terms of design (of the track) and asphalt it is closer (to its data Ferrari) in relation to the previous track (Interlagos)”, the Frenchman pointed out.

We remind you that last year in Las Vegas, Charles Leclerc had threatened the Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s empire, with an excellent race pace and having started from the pole position he won a day earlier.
Vasseur went on to say that the Scuderia must – also – not repeat the mistakes they made at Interlago: “We need to execute the three days of racing better than in Brazil, but it is nothing dramatic. We will have a much better three days in Vegas and we have to get the win there.”
Ferrari, it will be recalled, is second in the constructors’ championship, 36 points adrift of leaders McLaren – which they are called upon to reduce with only two races remaining after Las Vegas to the end of this F1 season.
Friday’s experimentation
However, the Scuderia’s eyes are not exclusively on this year’s championship. According to information from Italy, and from the well-informed media outlet Autoracer, Ferrari will use an experimental new floor on the two SF-24s in free testing on Friday (22/11).
The floor, we remind you, is the most important and critical aerodynamic device in modern ground effect cars (and in the context of the regulations that started in 2022).
According to the Italian publication, the Scuderia does not intend to use this new floor in the Las Vegas racing activities, but simply wants to make the correlation between the data from the wind tunnel and the track.
This association will help her make her final decisions on the design of the floor of “Project 677”, as the car being developed for 2025 – Lewis Hamilton’s first – is known within the walls of Maranello.
With this new floor, Ferrari not only wants to gain extra lift, but also to permanently solve the car’s high-speed bouncing problems – problems that were largely solved with the new floor it introduced at Monza.
