AEK issued an angry statement, with which it speaks of a “black night”, describing what happened in Patras, in the match with Prometheus. He also emphasizes that the time has come for refereeing to become professional and that a foreign referee should be hired in accordance with the standards of the Stoiximan Super League.
About 24 hours after the finale of the highly episodic match with Prometheus in Patras, AEK Betsson issued a statement, speaking of “black night” and asking for the arbitration to become professional, with the hiring, in fact, of a foreign chief referee.
AEK’s announcement in detail
“AEK Betsson BC has long shown the required good mood in every direction, considering that with the settlement something can change…
Our Management has shown and continues to show absolute respect to the institutions despite the injustices, which especially in recent years, have “costed” our team competitively and in terms of points, causing incalculable damage to KAE and despite the fact that in this year’s season as well we have suffered the same injustice, which has already “cost” us in points, we continued the lonely path of effort and settlement.
The AEK organization, especially in the context of the 100 years since the birth of our Association, gave priority to the promotion of all those values, which represent the ideals of our founders, and the social and cultural actions with the protagonists of people, children, the family, are still to be a priority. And they must be a priority for every Association, as “fair play” and noble competition are necessary conditions for healthy sport.
But it doesn’t go any further!
We regret to note that some show unimaginable disrespect towards our Team, putting the knife even deeper into the wound of a lost Championship, which AEK Betsson BC, in collaboration with other willing KAE, is taking the lead to improve the conditions for its holding. In yet another match of “D. Tofalos”, it goes without saying, and all sports fans in Greece saw it, there was an obvious – for the times – alteration of the result.
The whole of Greece saw the disrespect against our Team’s fans, who were provoked by the unimaginable things that happened on the pitch and by order of those who assumed the role of “protagonist” in the match, they were expelled from the pitch, and even violently due to the incomprehensible and uncoordinated operation evacuation of the field by the Police.
All of Greece saw the disrespect against the coach of the titles, with the huge contribution to our team and to the whole of Greek and European basketball, who was expelled, because he MADE HIS CROSS not believing in what he saw and because those who assumed the role of “protagonist” in the fight, when he asked for clarifications in their decisions – as he should – they answered him “I don’t listen to you, I don’t I see”!!!
The whole of Greece saw the disrespect against our top athlete, co-captain of our Team and captain of the Lithuanian National Team, with the tremendous progress in the NBA and other top Championships, an athlete-jewel, as the media have been writing since yesterday, who they didn’t hesitate to fire him (for “theatre”!), FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS BRILLIANT CAREER, charging him with three fouls in three consecutive phases!
All of Greece saw the disrespect against the major shareholder and some people next to him, who were expelled… together with their… armchairs, for an unknown reason and an unknown cause, a spectacle “for laughing and for crying”!
“In conclusion” all of Greece sees the disrespect against the most glorious basketball team of our country and it is our duty and obligation together not to remain inactive in this historical challenge!
The “known-unknown” (who have AEK in their sights, but are essentially unaware that they are hitting the sport in which millions are invested and many OEMs are making an effort to upgrade the product) are once again “questioning” the credibility of the Championship.
The Administration of AEK Betsson BC has for months been in an “ongoing” structural process of strengthening the Organization, but also of utilizing the Olympic facility, having on its side sponsoring partners-giants in their field and will constantly defend the interests by any legal means her.
Some insist for their own reasons on attacking us fiercely, but we do not flinch, we are not afraid.
And most importantly… As we’ve written before, we’re not pushovers.
We will fight until the end!
For our people, for our team, for our History!
In the Summer, AEK Betsson BC took initiatives, together with other KAE, in the direction of improving the conditions of the Championship, aiming at the implementation of the Salary Cap. It will continue to move in this direction, expecting to save with other initiatives what is being saved.
Now, after yesterday’s “black night” of Patras, we believe that the time has come for refereeing to become professionalas we have been calling for years, and we know that there are “listening ears” within the GBL teams’ co-operative.
And because the existing mode of operation of the KED/EEC does not allow the development of referees and does not favor the upgrading of basketball, the hiring of a foreign referee – from an advanced basketball country – according to the standards of the (football) model is a one-way street Great League.
Finally, we take for granted the punishment of the referees of yesterday’s match by the competent institutions.
Anendotos continues…”
