Elena Chinecke spoke about her presence in Poland, about the National team, about her impressions of the country, about the language and about Polish cuisine.
Elena Cineke, an international with the Women’s National team, extended her contract with Gorzov and remains the star player of her team in the championship and EuroCup Women (17.3 points and 6 assists average in four games).
The Greek guard spoke to the team’s website about its presence in the countryabout the level of the league, about the language, as well as about Polish cuisine.
For her impressions of the Polish championship: “They are very good. The Polish league is balanced and demanding, just like a good league should be, where athletes can develop. There is a reason why I decided to stay here another season. The coaches don’t give up, the environment is great. We have great fans, they come to support us. This is important, especially after such a difficult start. Besides, Poland is an interesting country here”.
For the Greek National Team: “We all know that the most important is the 2025 European Championship, which we will play at home in Greece. Each of the warm-up matches allows us to synchronize and prepare as well as possible for these most important games. We want to let’s play good basketball.”
For her favorite places in Poland: “Together with the girls of the group, we walk around the city, take videos and photos for social media. It’s always a good opportunity to explore. My favorite place is probably Rose Park in the city center, but unfortunately for me, it looks better in the summer while we play in the winter. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s pretty cool. I visited several cities in Poland and Europe on the occasion of the league games. The most beautiful in Poland was Gdynia. We were there in winter. For me it was an amazing experience because there was snow everywhere and at the same time I saw the beach, the sea – two completely different worlds at the same time.
I’m sure there are still many beautiful places I haven’t seen. Everyone had good things to say about Wrocław and indeed it is a very nice city. I have also seen Warsaw. I would welcome more suggestions so I have something to visit during the holidays. I have to talk to my teammates, they will suggest more places to see in Poland.”
On whether he understands Polish: “Honestly, I don’t learn Polish very well. It’s a very difficult language and, in my opinion, it doesn’t sound pleasant to the ear, so I don’t feel the need to do it. I know basic phrases like ‘good morning’, ‘goodbye’ or ‘thank you’, ‘please’ or ‘yummy’.
For Polish cuisine: “I like it chicken meat, the schnitzel. With potatoes and cucumber salad, it is definitely the best dish. I like pasta too, of course, but the schnitzel wins.”
