OFI announced that the alleged perpetrator of the firecracker throwing in the match against Panathinaikos was found, emphasizing that the person in question will no longer have a place in the team’s home games.

A fan’s act of throwing a firecracker during OFI’s match against Panathinaikos on October 20th cost the Cretans dearly, as they were forced to play the first match for the round of 16 of the Cup behind closed doors (after being punished by the Greek Football Association) Betsson of Greece head-to-head in Volos.

Almost a month later, the fan in question was located by the Greek Police, with the Cretan administration stressing that it forbids the person in question from entering the team’s home games.

The announcement in detail:

“PAE OFI 1925 announces that, following an investigation by the Hellenic Police through the surveillance system of the sports facility “Th. Vardinogiannis” and the video material from which the alleged perpetrator of the firecracker throwing during the OFI – Panathinaikos match on 10/20/24 was obtained, prohibits the entry of this person to the home games of PAE OFI 1925.

The above behavior resulted in the punishment of our team in the next home match for the organization of the Greek Cup against Volos NPS, which was held behind closed doors.

The Hellenic Police and DEAB have already been informed of the above decision, while OFI 1925 PAE informs that the same will happen in any similar incident that occurs in the future.

We all have to respect the effort of our footballers as well as the vast majority of our fans, who have either purchased a season ticket, or support the team with a simple ticket in all their home matches”.
