NATIONAL GREECE
The National team traveled to Finland to get the win against a team that has never beaten them away from home. What needs to be corrected is the bad tradition with the Finns away from home.
The national team could not follow up on the great result they got at Wembley, as they were defeated 3-0 in the OAKA by England and lost the reins for the first place in the Nations League group and at the same time a given second chance for the World Cup qualifiers 2026.
Of course, nothing is lost yet, as she will have the opportunity to turn things around in the final race, however given the odds, she is not on her side.
Ivan Jovanovic’s players showed during the trip to Helsinki that they have put the OAKA match behind them and are turning to the next game to do their job and from there see the progress of the match at Wembley between England and Ireland which data is in third place (and Finland is fourth).
The national coach attributed the defeat to the fact that his players against England did not play as rationally as they should have and they will have to rectify that, along with of course the poor start in the first half. However, her mission is not at all easy, as she goes to an inhospitable venue but to a team that has little ranking interest.
The ugly tradition with Finland at home
The two teams have fought a total of 19 times with the National team having the tradition in their favor with 10 victories. But all of them took place in Greece, as away from home he did not manage to prevail in any match. The Finns have prevailed in six wins, while three games have ended in a draw.
Sixth at home, however, in eight games, they have been defeated five times, while the three draws had the same score (1-1). Among the defeats, the National team also suffered a crash for the World Cup qualifiers in 2001, when they were defeated 5-1.
In the last two visits our representative group was defeated without scoring. If nothing else, it will be a great result for the blue and white if they get the three points.
