Thessaloniki said its last goodbye to Yiannis Boutaris at noon on Tuesday, with the family of Aris wishing to say goodbye to the former mayor and businessman through a separate post on social media.
At midday on Tuesday (12/11), relatives, friends, colleagues, workers and citizens said their last goodbyes to Yiannis Boutaris, the former mayor, businessman and winemaker, a man who left his mark on Thessaloniki like few others and who left the life last Saturday aged 82 years.
His action was also felt in the sports field as during the 1980s and 1990s he was successfully involved in the management of Aris basketball, a club he supported since he was a child, with the yellow and black team not forgetting the deceased and making a special mention on the page them on social media, characterizing, among other things, a benefactor of the club.
“The ARIS family and Thessaloniki bid farewell to Giannis Boutaris today.
ARIS lost a benefactor, an iconic personality who left his mark on the club’s recent history. We will never forget him.
AS, PAE and KAE ARIS, respecting the wishes of the family of the deceased, instead of laying wreaths, will proceed with donations in his memory, to the institutions he proposed.
A.S. ARIS
