With his commanding victory at Interlago, Max Verstappen took a big leap towards his fourth consecutive F1 championship, while Red Bull closed in on second-placed Ferrari in the constructors’ standings. See how the driver and manufacturer ratings are structured.
Max Verstappen had not stepped on the top step of the podium in the last 10 Formula 1 GPs, but he did so in the most emphatic way – from 17th on the grid – at the rainy and chaotic Brazilian GP.
Coupled with Lando Norris’s poor 6th place, the Dutchman has thus extended his gap to the McLaren Briton from 44 points to 62, and is now just 3 GPs and 1 Sprint away from sealing his fourth title.
In the manufacturers, with incredible podium finishes from Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly Alpine made a huge jump from 9th to 6th in the standings. At the top McLaren increased their lead over Ferrari narrowly to 36 points, but Red Bull edged the Scuderia to 13 points in 3rd place.
