The 13th Seminar of the Olympiacos Schools has been completed, with the record number of players who are in the “red and white” academies proving that there is significant progress in the profile of Piraeus.

The organization of the Olympiacos Schools Seminar, which was held on the two days of November 16 and 17 at “G. Karaiskakis” in the presence of over 200 coaches of the “red and white” football schools from Greece and abroad, was crowned with complete success for another year.

The Olympiakos update in detail

“Like every year, this year’s competition season also saw the Training Training Seminar of the Olympiacos Football Schools. The theoretical part of the Seminar took place at “G. Karaiskakis” on Saturday 16/11, where there was a tour of the stadium, while the practical part at the training center in Renti on Sunday 11/17. Over 200 coaches of Olympiakos football schools from Greece and abroad attended the seminar and learned everything they need to know about training and training young people football players.

The Seminar was “opened” by Thomas Benetet, assistant to the academy director of Olympiakos Jose Anigo, and referring to the huge success of the Youth in winning the UEFA Youth League last season, he spoke about the players who were in this team and took their first football steps in Schools of the Olympiakos network, such as Liatsikouras, Dama, Sina, Panagakos, Ligadas, Toufakis. Also, the head of the scouting department of the Olympiakos academy, Avraam Papadopoulos, welcomed the coaches of the schools, stressing them among other things: “Continue the correct and hard work you have been doing all these years, it is particularly important for us. Keep going and Olympiacos will be by your side.”

In the theoretical part, coaches of the “red and white” academy such as Dimitris Mavrogenidis, Makis Veniamin, Christos Rogas, Angelos Charisis, spoke to the coaches of the schools who were at “G. Karaiskakis”. They analyzed the way they should work in training, for the correct philosophy of the teams, but also for the preparation of everyday life and work together with the young footballers, as well as for the specialized training of the goalkeepers. At the same time, the nutritionist of the academy Irini Manthou spoke about the proper nutrition of the players before games and training, while the physiotherapist of the academy Nikos Kostas, the psychologist Vassilis Xernos and the executive of the Network of Schools Christos Solomos also spoke.

On the first day of the seminar, he gave the “present” to “G. Karaiskakis” and Paralympian Nikos Papagelis. The well-known cyclist previously played football at the Olympiakos school in Eleonas and speaking to the coaches, he emphasized: “I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at a young age and it was a difficult time for me because sports and football were really my life. I want to say a big thank you right now because I had huge support from the whole Olympiakos family, me and my brothers. Then my brother was in the Olympiakos academy and he had won the championship with the Youths and it was really a great strength to know that I had this support and I was never alone. After hard work, perseverance and patience I have managed to participate in two Paralympic games, most recently in Paris where I was fourth and I am aiming for something better in Los Angeles where I will go for the gold medal. I would like to tell everyone that sport saves lives. We are not just looking to produce champions, sports is the biggest school there is. A big thank you for being by my side.”

On the second day in Rentis, the practical part of the Seminar took place in which football players from the Academy and the Rentis School took part, as well as the coaches of the Academy Makis Veniamin, Sokratis Kopsacheilis, Tasos Meidanis, Petros Kravaritis, Aris Kyriazis, Thanasis Rossidis, Charalambos Sourdis, Christos Rogas, Angelos Charisis and the gymnasts Michalis Koukliabis, Vassilis Andrielos. The director of the Olympiacos Football Schools network, Vassilis Nanos, speaking to the Schools’ coaches, emphasized: “The provision of the Seminar is the largest that Olympiacos provides to the network’s teams and you should feel proud and special to take part in it. It is the longest training seminar that exists and acquires even greater value from the fact that the administration and the president of Olympiakos, Vangelis Marinakis, give us the opportunity to be on the field of the first team at “G. Karaiskakis” and at the training center in Rentis which is one of the most modern and best in Europe”.

Shortly before the end of the Seminar, all the participants took a commemorative photo at the training center in Rentis and received the participation diploma, while everyone renewed their appointment for next year, whenever the 14th Training Training Seminar will take place.

Record number of players from schools in the Academy

It is worth noting that through the network of football schools that Olympiacos has created over the years throughout Greece and abroad, it has reached the point that this year’s competition season there are 95 football players who come from the Network! A number which during the season is going to rise even more”.
