From the NBA to the G-League and from there to China, Turkey and Thessaloniki, the journey of Sharif Cooper who comes to Greece to wear the jersey of Aris.
The search for a replacement for David DeJulius appears to have come to an end as Aris completes his deal with Sharif Cooper until the end of the current season.
The 23-year-old 1m83 American point guard was the 48th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, played for the Atlanta Hawks (39 minutes in 13 regular season games), moved from the Cleveland Cavaliers’ G-League affiliate, had a minor last year stint in China with the Liaoning Flying Leopards again this year put on the jersey of Merkezefendi.
In Turkey, Cooper averaged 15.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6 assists per 29.7 minutes in six games. His good seasons were with the Cleveland Charge (22.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists per 33.6 minutes in 42 games of the 2022/23 season and 19 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.3 assists per 32.9 minutes in 43 games of the 2023/24 season ), grew up in New Jersey and played at Auburn University.
