Fabio Capello has questioned the choice of the Roma management to trust Claudio Ranieri for the position of coach, stressing that the Giallorossi made the right choice for their bench after a long time.

Roma announced on Thursday (14/11) the (second) return to the bench of Claudio Ranieri, who has taken over until the end of the season (he will then take up a managerial position at the club), with the hopes of everyone in Trigoria being that the 73-year-old coach and avowed Giallorossi fan will inspire the players much more than De Rossi’s predecessors did and Jurich.

However, according to one of the team’s former coaches (who led them to their third and final league title in the 2000-01 season), Fabio Capello, the Friedkin ownership made the right decision in giving Ranieri the keys to the locker room.

“He’s a Roman who knows the environment, he’s a smart man. Finally a right choice,” emphasized Capello, with the Italian veteran coach arguing that Ranieri’s old age is not the slightest problem:

“Good people can do anything, if they were good it means they had the intelligence and a way of working that led them to success.

It doesn’t matter the age of the coach, the important thing is to have a well-prepared staff.”
