DS Automobiles and Penske Autosport have unveiled the third-generation DS E-TENSE FE25 car for the 11th season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
With a renewed design, a more aerodynamic body, four-wheel drive and a new drive system developed by DS Performance, the DS E-TENSE FE25 will be the “ace up the sleeve” of the Franco-American team.
The new Gen3 Evo car in DS PENSKE colors will be driven in the new season by the only two-time champion of the event, Jean-Eric Vernet, alongside the talented German driver Maximilian Gunder.
Having participated in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since the 2nd season of the institution, the French premium company – with two doubles already under its belt (drivers’ and teams’ championships in 2019 and 2020) – will face in its 10th season in the Formula E championship intense competition aiming for the top.
DS Automobiles, partnering with American team Penske Autosport since 2022, has revealed the new Gen3 Evo DS E-TENSE FE25, which made its official debut in Valencia, Spain during pre-season testing for Season 11.
Featuring a deep black color accented with gold stripes, the DS E-TENSE FE25 also features an all-new electric drive system. Developed by DS Performance over two years, this state-of-the-art unit incorporates all the electrical know-how from DS Automobiles’ racing division.
Combined with four-wheel drive (in 350 kW mode) and new tires to ensure optimal traction, the new drivetrain – consisting of converter, gearbox and engine – is more efficient than its predecessor and more flexible in performance.
With Jean-Eric Vernet, Formula E’s only two-time champion and holder of the record for the most pole positions in the event, as well as the talented Maximilian Gunder in the cockpit, the DS E-TENSE FE25 is expected to lead the DS Penske team to new levels of distinction.
The goals for the French-American team are clear: to continue the excellent performance seen in qualifying (DS Penske holds the record for the number of front-row starts in a 10th season), to improve its race pace, to enter among the established championship leaders and score the maximum number of podium finishes.
Eugenio Francesetti, director of DS Performance, emphasized: “For DS Automobiles, this season means more than a title. First of all, we start our 10th season in Formula E! Since 2015, DS has competed in 121 races, claimed four championship titles, 16 wins, 51 podiums and 24 pole positions – which is truly outstanding.
In addition, we now present a car that has an all-new design and a new powertrain developed by DS Performance. I am especially proud of the tremendous amount of work that our engineers and mechanics have done over the past two years. The DS E-TENSE FE25 will be a huge asset for us to bring some big wins to DS Penske.”
The 11th season for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will begin with 17 races on the calendar around the world. The first round will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil on December 7, 2024.
