SPAIN
Youth protesters from the Arran organization vandalized the home of former Spanish international footballer Gerard Pique in protest against the housing crisis.
Former Spanish international footballer Gerard Pique’s luxury mansion in the Pyrenees was vandalized on Sunday (17/11) by a group of youths affiliated with the Catalan independence organization Arran.
It was the organization itself that claimed responsibility for vandalizing the property, in an act justified as a protest against “of monoculture tourism that suffocates the Pyrenees, against the petty bourgeois, ruffians and speculators who make our lives miserable”.
“Tired of having to move abroad because you can’t afford a decent house? While you have to leave because you can’t pay the rent, 64% of homes are second and third homes and are open, on average, for only 14 days a year”claim the organization, in a video in which they are seen graffitiing the former Barcelona central defender’s property.
