Panathinaikos AKTOR 84-91: Escaped the disaster in Rhodes thanks to Nan and Hernangomet’s big shots


Kendrick Nan and Juancho Hernangometh had to make big baskets in the fourth period, for Panathinaikos to leave Rhodes the winner (91-84), in a match where the Colossus did things and miracles.

The Panathinaikos AKTOR passed through Rhodes with a thousand efforts on Sunday afternoon (17/11). The Greens had no way of stopping Andrew Goudlock for three periods, gave the Colossus 29 points from 20 of their own and narrowly missed Stoiximan GBL Round 7 and suffered their first league defeat of the year.

Running a partial 12-5 until 24′, Panathinaikos overtook 52-53, but the Colossus continued to find solutions, especially with Goudlock who reached 23 points, to enter the fourth period with a lead of one basket (67- 65, 30′).

With two three-pointers by Perantes, Sigala’s team was +8 (75-67, 31′). Nan responded with two three-pointers of his own (75-73, 32′). Danusevicius also hit from behind 6.75m (78-73), but Panathinaikos equalized with Yurtseven and Osman (78-78, 34’16”). Two shots by Tsairelis followed (80-78), but also five points in a row from Hernangometh for 80-83 (35’46”). Yurtseven and Hernangomet gave the shamrock a 7-point cushion (80-87) with 54″ to go and that’s where the result was decided.
