Barcelona are keen to extend Wojciech Szczesny’s contract until 2026 despite the Polish goalkeeper yet to make his debut for the Blaugrana.

The void left by Ter Stegen’s injury at Barcelona prompted him Wojciech Szczany to put on the gloves again just months after announcing his retirement from football.

Of course, despite the fact that he was acquired by Barcelona to immediately cover the absence of the German in the goalposts, the Pole has not yet taken a single minute of participation.

Ignacy Pena is the one who defends the home of the Catalans until today and the club has already made a decision about the future of Sezni.

According to a Spanish publication, Barcelona intend to extend the experienced goalkeeper’s contract until 2026.

The sports director of the Blaugrana, Deco explained that the reason behind this decision lies in the fact that Széni’s influence in the team’s dressing room is evaluated very positively.

“Sezny came with an optimistic and positive spirit and that is important for the dynamic of the dressing room. He is well liked by his teammates. We are happy with what he offers, the decision whether he plays is always up to the manager, but I think competitiveness in the team is important.

What we want is for Sezni and Pena to ‘fight’ about who will play and respect each other.”emphasized Deco.
