Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly set his sights on a key January signing to bolster his squad and reignite the Gunners’ Premier League title challenge.

This move comes after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Fulham, where Arsenal’s struggles in front of goal were evident.
The match at Craven Cottage saw Fulham take an early lead through Raul Jimenez in the 11th minute. Arsenal fought back with William Saliba equalizing early in the second half.

However, a potential late winner from Bukayo Saka was ruled out by VAR due to an offside in the build-up involving Gabriel Martinelli.

The draw leaves Arsenal in third place, six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Compared to last season, the Gunners have dropped off significantly, collecting 29 points from their first 15 games this term compared to 36 points at the same stage last season.

According to journalist Charles Watts, Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams has emerged as a prime target.

The 22-year-old, known for his pace and creativity, has a £48m release clause in his contract and is viewed as a key addition to Arsenal’s wide areas.

While Saka and Martinelli remain pivotal for Arsenal, Arteta is said to be concerned about the lack of competition and depth in those positions.

Williams’ impressive performances for Spain during Euro 2024, including their final victory over England, highlighted his quality.

He even earned a nomination for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, finishing 15th and ranking higher than Arsenal stars Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Saliba, and Saka.

Williams’ arrival could inject fresh energy into Arsenal’s attack and provide the depth needed to sustain their title challenge.

With the transfer window opening on January 1, all eyes will be on Arsenal as they look to secure this vital signing.
