Wanderlei Luxemburgo, the former Real Madrid and Brazil national team manager, took a stand on Vinicius coming second in the Ballon d’Or voting, blasting the 24-year-old star for his behavior on the pitch.

Without a doubt Vinicius is one of the stars of Real Madrid in recent years and perhaps the main reason why the “queen” won the 15th Champions League in its history last May.

However, his performances last year failed to earn him the coveted Ballon d’Or, which ended up in the hands of Spain captain Rodri.

The former manager of Real (2004/05) and the Brazilian national team (1998/00), Wanderlei Lugeburgo, took a position on the question of whether Vinicius was wronged and what role he played in being behind the City midfielder.

The 72-year-old did not mince his words, noting that his behavior may have played the main role in why he did not win the individual award, after pointing out that Vinicius provokes with his behavior, since he believes that opponents mark him hard because he is black.

He also clarified that the fact that he lost to Rodri has absolutely nothing to do with racism, as pointed out by Brazilian media.

In detail what was stated by Wanderlei Luxembourg

“I think he takes a lot of the criticism he gets by doing things he shouldn’t. Vinicius takes a knock, gets up and immediately attacks the opposing player as if there are no hard knocks in football. Imagine Pele, how many knocks he took.

So does Zico. Vinny gets mad at the harsh markings as if he thinks they have something to do with him being black. Tthe fact that he lost the Ballon d’Or has nothing to do with racism. Racism in football is treated completely differently.”
