Kifissia 0-3: Enjoying the solitude of the top again

Chania and Kifissia lined up for the match between them on Sunday afternoon (17/11) having clear and distinct roles, with the home team being the absolute outsiders being in last place in the standings and the guests the unwavering favourites, chasing the lead.

The hunt for first place even had a happy ending for the Athenian team, which with a high morale after the – convenient for them – draw in the battle of Kalamata with Panionios that preceded it (1-1) was imposed with typical comfort, 3-0 , and climbed alone to the top of the standings after 9 matches in Super League 2 Group B.

The visitors entered the match strongly and did not allow their opponent to question their momentum, after they took the lead in the score in the 12th minute, with Manali’s amazing overhead shot after Kalogerakis saved Pombo’s shot from outside the area (not celebrated his goal, having played in Chania and even wearing the captain’s armband in the Cretans).

In the 27th minute, Kifissia’s task was made even easier when Tettei made it 2-0 with a header after a mix-up in the hosts’ defence, while the final 3-0 was written just before the hour mark, with Simon’s close-range shot after free kick by Pombo that stopped at the right post.
