Javier Aguirre was hit on the head by an object thrown by Honduras fans and left the field covered in blood after Mexico’s CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final defeat.
Honduras defeated Orbelin Pineda’s Mexico 2-0 with former Aris striker Luis Palma scoring both goals in their CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final first leg.
However, the match was marred by the attack received by the visitors’ coach, Javier Aguirre, after the end of the match when the home fans threw dozens of objects at him.
One of them hit him in the head, causing him to leave the field covered in blood. Despite the blow he received, the 65-year-old coach kept his composure and went to shake hands with the opposing team’s staff.
