Robin Lund was faced with one more game against our national team and after the match in Helsinki, he spoke to SPORT24 about his impressions of the blue and white team, as well as Panathinaikos, which he will never forget.
The national team passed Finland by winning 2-0 in Helsinki and finished their group in the Nations League on a positive note, although in the end they did not manage to celebrate the first place.
One of the opponents of the blue and white was an old acquaintance, Robin Lund, who wore the shirt of Panathinaikos for three years, having played a total of 105 times with a score of 15 goals. He now plays in Minnesota and MLS after first playing for a season in Spain with Sporting Gijon.
The 31-year-old Finnish midfielder spoke after the match at SPORT24 and among other things he mentioned the match with our representative group, but also the shamrock, where he does not forget his time in the team.

Robin, you have faced our national team in the past. Have you seen an improvement in her?
“Your national team did very well, they won five out of six matches, they beat England at Wembley, but also in the games against us their image was very good. This group they have formed has more quality than in the past and I am happy for them“.
The Finnish national team on the other hand did not do well in this Nations League.
“Unfortunately nothing went well, we lost six times in as many matches. We have to regroup to fight in the World Cup qualifiers“.

Today you faced two of your former teammates, Vlachodemos and Kourbelis. Did you talk at all?
“Of course we talked. It’s always nice to meet them, we spent years together playing in the same team. I was very happy to see them and to see them progress in their careers“.
What have you kept from your time at Panathinaikos? Do you follow the developments of the team?
“Yes of course I follow the team. I saw that in the last few years he came close to winning the championship and now he is also close. As much as I can I see what is happening in the team. As for the first leg I remember the atmosphere at the derbies and the joy there was throughout the club at the wins in those matches“.

“I wish them all the best for the future. It’s probably the best group of fans I’ve ever met and played for, they really boosted us in every match. It was an honor to play for Panathinaikos and for this audience. May they achieve their goals.”
