The referees of the Hornets – Bucks admitted that it was a wrong whistle that was the foul with which they charged Giannis Antetokounmpo, from which LaMelo Ball made the shots for the final 115-114.
For the second game in a row, Giannis Antetokounmpo was charged with a very severe foul by the referees in a critical phase.

The Bucks did not have a challenge (Doc Rivers had used it 2:46 before the final) and after the end of the game it was reported that the referees admitted that Giannis’ foul would have been called if the Bucks’ bench had the right to appeal to send the referee to video replay.
“On the live stream of the game, Giannis was charged for contact (foot to foot) with LaMelo Ball driving toward the basket. We saw the phase after the end of the match and there was no foul, no contact” was the statement of the first referee of the match, Curtis Blair, who was asked by the journalist Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer if the decision would be changed in case there was a challenge from the Bucks and he replied “correctly“.
And just like that, the explanation requested by Thanasis Antetokounmpo via Twitter was given in the most formal way. Of course, the Bucks lost the match due to this decision, with Giannis once again seeing the referees exhaust their strictness towards him. Something that doesn’t happen often with stars of his caliber.
Doc Rivers, for his part, said a Bucks player was blocking the line of sight of the referee who called the foul and added:This referee made a fool of them. Second match in a row with a wrong whistle in the last phase. LaMelo Ball is down. It just fell to the ground. There was no player near him. He slipped on his own. We would have possession, the match would be over“.
