ARSENAL
Arsenal saw Edouard step down as their sporting director and is expected to take up a CEO role at Vangelis Marinakis’ group of clubs and have been searching for his successor ever since, with Gianluca Di Marzio revealing that Thiago Scouro has entered their sights of Monaco.
For the last six years, Edu’s name has been inextricably linked with Arsenal and several excellent options in the transfer windows, but for a few days now the Londoners have been asked to manage his void.
And that’s because the Brazilian has tendered his resignation as sporting director and is reportedly in talks with Vangelis Marinakis to take on a CEO role at his group of teams (Olympiacos, Nottingham, Rio Ave), with the north London club not however, he stays with his hands crossed and has found the person who could fill his void.
This, according to a report by Gianluca Marzio, is 43-year-old Thiago Scouro who has been a factor in the teams for 20 years and who has been in the role of CEO at Monaco since last summer.
As the Italian journalist reports, Scouro arrived in Monaco last summer to take over from Paul Mitchell (he moved to Newcastle) and is doing extremely well, taking over a team in 6th place and having them in 2nd place after the first 11 matches.
“He did it in the best possible way, after leaving the likes of Folland, Aguilar and Gelson Martins (with an average age of over 30) and bringing in Balogun, Zakaria, Shingo and Kerer, who are all under 27”, says Di Marzio, stressing that the Italian factor is very liked by Arsenal, who are looking for the best possible solution to cover the big void of Edo.
