The FIA’s director of single-seaters, Nicolas Tombazis, said there was “no longer any issue” over the case of Red Bull’s floor height adjustment device, which other teams have hinted the champion is using illegally under the regime park lock. Agreement of the groups to seal any such part in the park-ferme.

Two members of the FIA took a close look at the Red Bull RB20 following the end of yesterday’s (18/10) US GP free practice. The champion, we recall, admitted the existence of this device in the nose of the RB20 (which is not illegal), but clarified that she does not use it under the park-fix regime (which would be illegal) because it is not accessible unless the car is fixed, in the garage.
Members of the FIA then proceeded to seal the device in order to ensure – and to reassure the other teams – that Red Bull will no longer use it at the Austin pit stop.

Nikolas Topazis clarified that the FIA has no indication or proof that RBR used this mechanism in previous races under park-and-ride regime, and with its sealing now in Texas he believes that the matter is now over.
“At the previous race we were informed that certain designs can allow the height of the front of the car to be adjusted, the point some call ‘bib’, in the parking lot. We had no indication or proof that anyone had done anything like that.”said Topazis speaking to the English network Sky Sports F1.
“This would clearly be illegal under the park-ferme regime under the regulations. But I would say that we didn’t have any clear indication that somebody did that. So we agreed that from this match onwards, there should be no possibility of such a thing being done.
Consequently, if a team has a design that would allow for such a rapid change in height, then it should be sealed so they cannot access that park-ferme. I think all the teams have agreed, and as far as we’re concerned this matter is under control.”
The 56-year-old technical director of the FIA for Formula 1, added that he now considers that the matter is over: “I believe that effhenceforth this issue no longer exists. Kwe breathed all it took to stop each accusation. Of course, we are going through one unpredictable battle for the championship and each team shows great interest in the other’s car.
We can’t stop any hinting between teams in a very competitive environment. But in the current situation, we believe that there is no longer any issue”concluded Nikolas Tombazis.
