Lando Norris closed the gap on Max Verstappen by a further 2 points by winning the Brazilian Sprint race after a generous bid from Oscar Piastri. See in detail the driver and manufacturer ratings, after and after the penalty imposed on the Dutchman.

Lando Norris took a maximum of 8 points from the Sprint race at Interlago, Brazil, in the 21st Formula 1 three-day race of the year, to further reduce his championship deficit to Max Verstappen.

The Virtual Safety Car (VSC) did not allow Verstappen to launch his attack on the McLarens, but also the Dutchman was investigated by the stewards about the tactics he followed behind Piastri shortly before the VSC period ended.

Norris-Piastri’s 1-2 and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz 3-5, meanwhile, saw McLaren extend their lead over the Scuderia in the constructors’ battle from 29 to 34 points.

UPDATE: Several hours after the end of the Sprint race, the stewards announced that they had imposed a 5” time penalty on Max Verstappen, which dropped him from 3rd to 4th place in the race.
