David Ornstein reveals Arsenal’s plan to repeat Man Utd’s 1000 IQ tactic to complete Martin Zubimendi transfer

Arsenal are reportedly set to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi for £51 million, with the transfer scheduled for the end of the current season.

Manager Mikel Arteta has been monitoring Zubimendi for over a year, viewing him as a key addition to Arsenal’s midfield.

Despite interest from other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City, Arsenal have secured the player’s signature by agreeing to trigger his £51 million release clause.

Although Arsenal wanted to sign Zubimendi immediately, Real Sociedad insisted on keeping him until the season concludes.

Zubimendi, who contributed to Spain’s Euro 2024 victory and has 15 national caps, will join a midfield lineup that already includes Mikel Merino.

This strategic move comes as Arsenal anticipates the expiration of contracts for current midfielders Jorginho and Thomas Partey in the summer.

Arteta emphasized the club’s commitment to strengthening the squad, stating, “We are actively looking in the market to improve the squad. That’s been like that since day one.”
