With three victories in the five specials, the Dacia Sandriders achieved an excellent performance while drawing useful conclusions from the behavior of the car in the difficult conditions of the rally raid.
The Dacia Sandriders team made an impressive start, scoring 1-2 in the Rallye du Maroc, after 5 days of intense competition and 2500km of rough roads. The event, which largely proved to be a good test for the new team and the sustainable fuel Dacia Sandriders, ended with an impressive result and victory in an FIA World Rally-Raid Championship race.

Of greater importance, however, was the fact that the Morocco Rally was an ideal preparation for January’s Dakar, the most difficult race on the global motorsport calendar, which is also the next challenge for the Dacia Sandriders team. They took the lead from the start, winning the first stage of Monday.

Nasser Al Attiyah and Edouard Boulanger stood out to then secure victory and the 2024 FIA World Rally-Raid Drivers’ Champion title based on results with different teams earlier in the year. Al Attiyah from Qatar has now won 3 world championships, while 1st place in Rally Morocco was his seventh overall victory in this race.

Having won Wednesday’s longest stage of 325km from Zagora to Mengoub, Sébastien Lemb and Fabian Lerkin completed the Moroccan race on Friday, winning the 5th stage and giving the Dacia Sandriders team a triumphant Friday. Having started from 4th place on the final day, Leb’s attack saw him second overall, with the Dacia Sandriders team eventually scoring an emphatic 1-2.

Work to get the team ready for the 2025 Dakar, which will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 3 – 17, has just begun. It is a month of intensive preparation before the Dacia Sandriders team departs, at the end of the year, for the Middle East to face their biggest racing challenge to date.
