Costinia is the multi-tool that solved Mendiliber’s hands and has developed into the best transfer of Olympiakos so far this season.

Joao Pedro Loureiro da Costa or better known as Costinia was acquired by Olympiakos last December from Rio Ave, but was integrated into the red and white roster in July.

The Portuguese right back knew that he would have in front of him one of the protagonists of the Piraeus team in the previous season, the excellent, quality and one of the captains of Olympiakos, Rodinei, but he was sure of his capabilities.

The 24-year-old defender was patient at the beginning of the season, at the end of August and until the middle of September he got a few minutes of participation in the matches against Lamia, Panaitolikos and Aris and from the end of that particular month (from the match against Atromitos) he became a key player in footage of Mediliber.

The multitool – Costinia

In fact, the young footballer untied the hands of the Spanish technician, as he entered the lineup and freed Rodney, who was mainly used as a right winger, offering offensive solutions, where the red and whites did not get from other players.

Kostinia was the main right-back for Olympiakos in the games against Braga, Malmo and Rangers in the Europa League, as well as in the derby against Panathinaikos, but also the games against Astera Tripoli AKTOR, Panserraikos and PAOK in Toumba for championship.

As he was a starter in the first Betsson Greek Cup match against Athlens Kallithea.

The Portuguese footballer is a “multi-tool” in the hands of Madrid, as he has been used both as a right and a left back – due to Ortega’s injury – reminding the older ones of the case of Zevlakov.

The Iberian defender has already made 13 appearances for the Piraeus team in all competitions and the only thing he is missing at the moment is to give more things offensively, either by scoring or providing assists.

It is recalled that Costinia had five goals and six assists with Rio Ave in 37 games last season, at the end of which he was even named the best right-back in the Portuguese league.

The lurking Benfica

Benfica were also closely monitoring him last term, but Olympiacos got ahead of the Lusitanians by signing the player just weeks before the winter transfer window opened.

According to information, Benfica knocked on the door of Olympiakos last summer (at the beginning of July) for the acquisition of Costinias, but the Piraeus PAE rejected the offer of the Lisbon team and, now, the young footballer has developed into the best transfer of the red and whites so far in the period.

It doubled its value

The Portuguese defender is reliable in blocking, strong, bouncy, noted for his combativeness, runs, tenacity and effective marking and has linked up very well with Rodney on the right side of Olympiakos.

The red and whites acquired 70% of his rights from Rio Ave instead of 2.5 million. and it has already doubled in value.

Kostinia was one of Olympiakos’ top performers, both in the last two games against PAOK and Rangers as well as earlier in the games against Malmo, Braga, Panathinaikos and Atromitos.

The Portuguese right-back has earned the trust of Madrid and believes he can offer much more to the red and whites later in the season.
