Javier Mascherano was a cerebral player on the pitch when he was playing and it seems that shrewdness has followed him throughout his coaching career, as he showed with one action in Argentina U20’s match against Bolivia.
The match between Argentina U20 and Bolivia, in the context of Albisteleste’s preparation for the Copa America of its category (from January 23 to February 16, 2025, in Venezuela) would not have received much publicity, but Javier Mascherano made sure to draw on it all the looks.
He did this with a move he made shortly after the start of the match that was praised by a large portion of the media and social media.
Specifically in the 13th minute of the match, with the Bolivian Nathan Tito seeing a red card for a tackle from behind on the Argentinian Lautaro Miyan, but not leaving his team with a numerical disadvantage.
That’s why Mascherano put his hand in, who, in his effort not to spoil the image of the match, convinced the referee not to leave the opponents with 10 players but instead of sending off to show… substitution!
Thus, Tito, who did the hard marking, left the field and his place was taken by Renan Terrasas, with Argentina U20 showing its class in the game, winning with characteristic ease, 4-0, against its opponent.
