The Police Union of Achaia issued a statement, in which it claims that two police officers were injured during the incidents that took place in the match between Prometheus and AEK.

The Police Union of Achaia, through its announcement, reported that two police officers were injured in the incidents that took place on Saturday (16/11) in the match between Prometheus and AEK for Stoiximan GBL.

The relevant announcement in detail:

“Yesterday, November 16, 2024, during the basketball match between the teams Promethea and AEK for the 7th game of the GBL, after several interruptions and warnings by the referees for abusive slogans from AEK fans, an order was given to evacuate the platform where were the fans of the visiting team. During the evacuation process, the Police received resistance and attacks from the fans. The result was that two (2) of our colleagues were injured, as he fell from the murderous attack he received. the stand where he was.

We unequivocally condemn this behavior of the fans, which has no place in Greek stadiums. At the same time, we wonder where are all these measures that the Greek State has repeatedly trumpeted to limit violence in sports venues.

We insist that the Government and the Ministry of Citizen Protection must immediately stop the bleeding of personnel from the services of Achaia through limited transfers to it and mass detachments from it. Achaia has increased policing needs, a fact that unfortunately proves itself every day in a bad way and needs fully manned services. Still imperative is the need to establish a permanent Department of Police Operations in Patras, our constant request which unfortunately is not being implemented. Finally, we await the exemplary punishment of the perpetrators of these incidents and the injuries of the Policemen by the Greek Justice.”
