The NFL required every team to reduce its roster to just 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday after allowing them to carry up to 90 players during the offseason.
The Los Angeles Rams began the process of cutting their roster down on Sunday, moving on from 11 players initially. It was also reported that they waived Brennan Jackson and traded KT Leveston, bringing their transaction total to 13. Just before the deadline at 4 p.m. ET, the Rams announced their remaining roster moves to get down to the mandated limit of 53 players.
We tracked all of the Rams’ roster moves leading up to the deadline, from cuts and injury designations to trades and rumors. Here’s a recap of every move they made.

Rams reveal complete 53-man roster
Shortly after Tuesday’s deadline, the Rams revealed their full 53-man roster. They kept three quarterbacks and only three running backs, going deep in the trenches with five offensive linemen and seven defensive linemen.
Rams announce remaining roster cuts, including Chris Paul Jr.
At 4 p.m. ET, the Rams announced their remaining roster moves to get their roster down to 53 players. They waived 23 more players, waived two with injury designations and cut veteran cornerback A.J. Green to get down to the limit of 53.
Rams are waiving OLB Jamil Muhammad
According to Blaine Grisak of Turf Show Times, the Rams are waiving rookie pass rusher Jamil Muhammad. He was signed by the team as an undrafted free agent this year but did not make the 53-man roster.
Rams trade KT Leveston to Browns
The Rams are trading reserve tackle KT Leveston to the Browns for a 2028 seventh-round pick. Leveston was a seventh-round selection by the Rams in the 2024 draft, so they’re moving on from him after one year. He missed his entire rookie season with an ankle injury.
Rumor: Rams are cutting rookie Chris Paul Jr.
There’s a rumor that the Rams are cutting rookie linebacker Chris “Pooh” Paul Jr. on Tuesday, moving on from their fifth-round pick already. Draft Diamonds was first to report the decision and Paul’s father, Christopher Paul Sr., appeared to confirm it on social media.
Rams are waiving OLB Brennan Jackson
The Rams are waiving second-year edge rusher Brennan Jackson. He was a fifth-round pick out of Washington State last year but only played seven games as a rookie and struggled this summer. This is the first somewhat surprising cut by the Rams, though we did not expect him to make the 53-man roster in our final projection.
Sean McVay says the Rams have decided on their 53-man roster
McVay told reporters on Monday after practice that the team has already decided on its 53-man roster, coming to a conclusion on which players it will keep initially. However, the Rams will wait to release the full roster until Tuesday.
Predicting which players could be cut next
The Rams could announce a second wave of cuts before Tuesday’s deadline, or they could release the remaining 26 players in one fell swoop. If they opt to go with a second wave of cuts, we predicted which 10 players might be released next.
Rams announce practice schedule for Monday
The Rams are scheduled to practice on Monday morning so there likely won’t be any cuts until after they wrap things up at 11 a.m. PT. Sean McVay will then address the media with a press conference, though he likely won’t give anything away when it comes to the Rams’ roster decisions.
Rams announce 1st wave of roster cuts (Sunday, Aug. 24)
The Rams announced their first wave of roster cuts on Sunday afternoon, moving on from 11 players. Of those 11 players, 10 were waived and will be subject to waivers, while one (Tony Fields) was a vested veteran, so he will not have to go through waivers.
TE McCallan Castles, S Malik Dixon-Williams, OL Ben Dooley, DT Decarius Hawthorne, G John Leglue, C Mike McAllister, OLB Josh Pearcy, DL Da’Jon Terry, OT Trey Wedig, QB Dresser Winn, LB Tony Fields (released)
Rams 53-man roster projection
We put together our final 53-man roster projection after the team’s preseason loss to the Cleveland Browns, predicting which players will make the cut and which ones will be cut.
NFL roster cut deadline
The NFL mandates that all 32 teams must trim their rosters down to 53 players by 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 26.
Where are the Rams in the waiver order?
The waiver order for claiming players mirrors the original 2025 NFL Draft order, which means the Rams are 26th in the waiver order. If a team ahead of them claims the same player off waivers that the Rams also try to claim, the team higher than Los Angeles will be awarded that player.
