Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams React to MVP Chants During Rams Win vs. Mayfield, Bucs

Los Angeles Rams star quarterback Matthew Stafford is starting to separate himself from the pack in the race for NFL MVP this season.

Stafford was subjected to MVP chants from his home fans at SoFi Stadium as he led the Rams to a dominant 34-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football.

“That was cool, that was awesome,” Stafford said of the chants after throwing for 273 yards and three scores in the win, per The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue.

Star receiver Davante Adams, who caught two of Stafford’s three touchdown passes, added, “They’re just calling a spade a spade.”

The win improved the Rams’ record to 9-2, giving them sole possession of first place in the NFC. Rams head coach Sean McVay also had high praise for Stafford after the game:

Stafford has been one of the most underrated quarterbacks of his generation with just two career Pro Bowl selections. If he keeps up his outstanding play, he could be adding more accolades to his resume by the end of the season.

Stafford will try to help the Rams earn their seventh straight win when they return to action next Sunday against the Carolina Panthers (6-5).
