NFL midseason superlatives: The biggest busts so far

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t made official the headliner for their Thanksgiving halftime extravaganza when they play the Kansas City Chiefs, but at this point it’s pretty obvious that Post Malone from nearby Grapevine will be the headliner.
Could Taylor Swift join him in a game where her finance Travis Kelce will be playing? Probably not, but Swifties can dream and there are plenty doing just that.
Meanwhile, coach Brian Schottenheimer (and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus) still are gainfully employed for the 3-5-1 team.

Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show: Post Malone?
Dallas is well past the time when it usually announces its Thanksgiving halftime show, but the Cowboys have started teasing it and indications point to Grapevine’s Post Malone as the featured entertainer. That isn’t official yet but seems imminent.
The teaser was posted on their social media and shows a Dak Prescott bobblehead that appears to be inside semi truck.
Per the Dallas Morning News: “While the video doesn’t give any names, the 18-second video has some hints that point to Grapevine native Post Malone. One such hint could be the Dak Prescott bobblehead on the truck dashboard, a potential reference to Malone’s hit song ‘Wow.’ where he raps ‘Last call, Hail Mary, Prescott touchdown.'”
Could someone else join him? Dallas’ Thanksgiving opponent is the Kansas City Chiefs, whose starting tight end Travis Kelce is engaged to an entertainer who did a duet with Malone on a 2024 album. That would of course be Taylor Swift, and of course there is speculation she’ll be there.
That’s a long shot, but perhaps not impossible, per the Dallas Morning News.
Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game
The Cowboys host the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) at the traditional time of 2:30 p.m. MT/3:30 p.m. CT. The game will be on CBS.
Did the Dallas Cowboys fire their head coach (or Matt Eberflus)?
No, they did not fire first-year coach Brian Schottenheim and won’t during this season (and likely not afterward), but this is a question Dallas Cowboys fans are asking a number of different ways on the google machine.
And defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus still has a job, too.
Who is the Dallas Cowboys new head coach?
Presumably, this question was asked in hopes that the answer to the above question was yes. It was not. Brian Schottenheimer is the new coach, who has now coached more than half a season.
Dallas Cowboys next game
The Cowboys return from their bye this week to take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football on Nov. 17. The game will be televised on ABC and ESPN.
Mazi Smith
The 24-year-old defensive tackle Smith, a first-round pick in the 2023 draft who has mostly been a bust, was a throw-in in Dallas’ trade with the New York Jets for Quinnen Williams. He’s appeared in five games this year and has three assisted tackles.
