The Ferrari F80, the successor to Maranello’s legendary supercar dynasty – from the F40 and F50 to the Enzo and LaFerrari – was unveiled a few weeks ago and the Scuderia’s two Formula 1 drivers got their first driving experience from it. . See their impressions.
The F80 combines the hybrid technologies of F1’s SF-24 car and the Ferrari 499P of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) into an ultra-high-performance road car.
It is the successor to the F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari dynasty, each of which carried the cutting edge of Maranello and Scuderia technology from its time into a production supercar.
Today, the F80 features a 120-degree inline V6 engine that produces 900 horsepower and is paired with three electric motors that push power to 1,200 hp. This makes it the most powerful road Ferrari of all time.
The technology from the cutting edge of global motorsport it incorporates concerns the MGU-H electric motor (which gets its energy from the heat inside the Turbo), the energy recovery of the dampers and the use of active (electrically driven) aerodynamic components, including DRS on the rear wing.

Before the official premiere of the Ferrari F80, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had the opportunity to drive it while it was still in the prototype testing phase, at the Italian company’s track in Fiorano.
Next to them, in the right cockpit the two F1 drivers had Raffaele de Simone, head test driver of the GT division at Maranello. Before entering the cockpit, Leclerc, facing the F80, commented “here is the monster”.
And the Monegasque then commented: “It gives you the feeling of a racing car. A racer that is so controlled. I like that it takes very small movements of the steering wheel to turn.
It’s fast. Very fast. But mostly I like how predictable it is. To be able to enjoy that much power, it has to be predictable.”
Carlos Sainz, in turn, said: “The power is amazing. You can use any gear you want on the box, whenever you want. It’s impressive, with so much power. You feel that it is very close to a car F1 – it’s fantastic”.
