Los Angeles Rams rookie linebacker Shaun Dolac took inspiration from his head coach, Sean McVay, when it came to his Halloween costume on Friday.
In a video that made the rounds on social media, Dolac was in the team’s meeting room dressed like McVay, complete with a headset. He accompanied the costume with a spot-on impression of his coach, eliciting laughter from his teammates:
Adam Grosbard of the Los Angeles Daily News noted that when McVay was asked what he thought about Dolac’s costume and impression, he sarcastically replied, “Oh, I loved it.”
Dolac, 24, is an undrafted rookie out of the University at Buffalo. After impressing during the preseason, he made the Rams’ 53-man roster, and he has appeared in all seven of L.A.’s regular season games.
He has primarily been utilized on special teams, although Dolac did play 44.9 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in a 17-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.
Overall, Dolac has recorded 17 tackles and one tackle for loss during his debut season.
While Dolac is new to the team, McVay has been the Rams’ head coach since 2017, and he has led them to some of their greatest successes.
McVay is 85-54 during his tenure with six playoff appearances, two trips to the Super Bowl and one Super Bowl win.
At 5-2, the Rams have positioned themselves well for another postseason run in 2025, which would mark their third straight year in the playoffs.
Dolac’s costume choice suggests the Rams players are comfortable poking fun at their coach, which is the type of atmosphere that can be embraced when a team is playing winning football.
The Rams should have a great chance to improve to 6-2 on the year when they host the 1-7 New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
