The Los Angeles Rams picked up a win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, but a key player is now dealing with an injury.
Star wide receiver Davante Adams exited in the fourth quarter because of an oblique injury.
The good news for the Rams is that it may not be that serious. Head coach Sean McVay told reporters after the game that he didn’t have an update on Adams yet, but he could have come back into the game if he was needed.
Sunday’s game was never really in doubt as the Rams won 42-26. Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns, and Adams hauled in six passes for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Adams, who is in his first season with the Rams, has recorded 568 receiving yards and an NFL-best nine touchdowns. With Adams and Puka Nacua, who has 775 yards and four touchdowns, the Rams have one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL this year.
Nacua has dealt with a handful of his own injuries this year, so the Rams will hope to avoid any more bad injury luck with Adams.
Behind outstanding play from its wide receiver duo and quarterback Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles is off to a 7-2 start this year and sits atop the NFC West. The Rams are looking to win back-to-back division titles for the first time since 2017 and 2018, and having Adams fully healthy for the back stretch of the season will be crucial.
Los Angeles will get one of its biggest tests of the season next week when it faces the surging Seattle Seahawks, who also head into the matchup 7-2 after securing their fourth consecutive win.
With both teams atop the division, the game could be decisive in the race for the NFC West crown.
